Medicine Goes Virtual ~ Book a Session

From the comfort of your home, you log in, type in your complaint, and then wait in the virtual waiting room. The doctor connects with video conferencing. As long as the problem can be diagnosed online, instructions are given, and prescriptions are sent to your local pharmacy. Sometimes a referral is needed for an “in-person” visit to a specialist, urgent care, or emergency room.

Health Insurance companies are excited to save money. Patients are thrilled by the convenience. Doctors can work remotely. In rural areas, virtual visits might allow you to see a specialist if there is not one in your area. The benefits of Virtual Medicine have been on the horizon for some time.

“Telehealth” and “Telemedicine” are the new buzzwords, and everyone involved is wondering what the future holds.

The future is now

Video Conferencing has transformed business meetings, now it is transforming the practice of Medicine. Whether through video conferencing or telephone lines, health care providers can now provide care through virtual visits. Online Urgent Care “Clinics” and Mental Health “Clinics” are opening up in cyberspace.

The world is changing. It always is.

Government regulations and health care providers continue to struggle with how best to utilize and pay for the technology. Health insurance companies are interested because of the financial savings. Technology companies are creating new platforms. New wrist and home devices monitor your health and send the information to the doctor’s office. Technology is changing the practice of medicine.

Dr. Joel Ying offers Online Sessions.

I currently offer “Consultations” in my “brick and mortar” office.

Now, I’m extending into a virtual office with telephone or video conferencing calls.

What services are available in an online session?

Medical Consultation. I bridge the traditional and the alternative. Let’s review your medical history together. Whether a wellness visit or a problem visit, we can come up with a plan together, get labs and studies ordered, and discuss treatment options. Let’s explore lifestyle modification like diet and exercise. If needed, supplements and/or medications may be important. I offer you my medical expertise. Let’s find a regimen for optimal wellness and improve health by searching for the root cause.

Holistic Health Counseling. Holistic means not just addressing physical health, but also mental, emotional, and spiritual health. What else is going on in your life? How does it impact your health? How can we make changes? What other resources do you need? What other healing modalities or practitioners might help? Let’s explore together the meaning of health for body, mind, emotions, and spirit in your life.

Energy Healing Sessions. With the paradigm that everything is energy, I facilitate healing with a meditative process of guided exploration. Holding a safe grounded presence, this process empowers you to sit with whatever issues are showing up for you in your life. Let’s walk them together, whether they are emotional blocks like grief and anxiety, mental limiting beliefs that keep you stuck, searching for spiritual meaning, or anything else out of balance in your life. Working from this energetic level can create change even on the physical level as you release holding patterns like fear and frustration.

What services do I need to come into the office for?

Medical Consultation/Wellness Check-Up/Holistic Health Counseling. Physical examination is an important part of the wellness check-up and sometimes necessary to diagnose a problem. If your problem needs to be “seen and examined,” then you will want to come into the office.

Craniosacral therapy is a hand-on healing approach that I offer in the office. In this therapy, a safe healing gentle touch is used to unwind the restrictions in the body. The client is fully clothed and lays face up on a massage table. Craniosacral therapy stimulates optimal movement and energy flow. “Cranio-” refers to the bones of the skull, and “sacral” refers to the bone at the back of the pelvis. These bones house the brain and spinal cord. This therapy tunes into the fluid of the nervous system to relax the body and release trauma and restrictions. I sometimes incorporate acupuncture, counseling, and energy healing with these sessions.
