Hope Springs Institute ~ Retreat Center

“From this place springs hope for inner and global peace”

Hope Springs Institute proves that one person can manifest a dream by just being present to the calling. This retreat center has evolved into a non-profit, self-sustaining institute operated by a board of directors.

Mission of Hope Springs Institute

To provide sacred space for growth, innovative learning, and healing while honoring mind, body, spirit, and the earth.

Nestled in the remote Appalachian foothills and out of cell phone service for most, Peebles, Ohio, is just 2 hours from major airports and cities. The 130-acre facility provides comfortable modern accommodations for up to 40 people.

The spectacular backdrop for healing retreats has an outdoor fire pit, walking labyrinth for meditation, hiking trails, and a large octagonal studio space for large workshops. The commercial kitchen caters farm-to-table gourmet meals that nurture the body. The programming includes workshops on empowerment and personal growth that nurture the mind and spirit. Check them out online at HopeSpringsInstitute.org.

The New Spirit House

The dedication ceremony for the opening of the new Spirit House happened this month in July 2019 at Hope Springs Institute.  The builders spoke about the care and attention to detail as each part of the building process was blessed and the lesson of patience in trying to make a perfectly round building, cutting each piece of wood perfectly. The final product is a work of art! The indoor fire pit creates a perfect place for meditation, ceremony, and intimate workshops.

The dedication ceremony featured two mini-workshops. One of them was a preview of Rediscovering Play with Deb Jewett and myself, Dr. Joel Ying! We were so honored to be a part of the gathering. Check out the pictures and video online.

Rediscovering Play ~ A Residential Retreat

September 12 – 15, 2019

Deb Jewett and Dr. Joel Ying will tell you playfully that “play is serious work.” As a adults, we often have to relearn how to play.

“Play is the process.” Play gives us access to more creativity, to feeling alive, to create community, to reignite passion and purpose, and to recover from the 24-7 grind of the modern day world. In this workshop, we facilitate a Kindred Spirits community with a judgment-free zone to put your inner critic off-line.  Together, we will explore drumming with everyday objects, learning to tell stories, finger painting, the process of free journaling, internally inspired free movement, creating vision boards with collage, playful talent show and more.

Don’t take yourself too seriously. Learn to play. Does the word “play” make you nervous? Do you feel like you would not do it right? Then, you need this 4-day/3-night residential retreat.
