“Birth, Life, Death is a cycle, and they are all beautiful. You celebrate all of them.”
~ Cesar Milan
The Native American teachings are connected to observation of the natural world. All over the natural world we see cycles. The cycle of the day and night. The cycle of the seasons. The cycle of life. Each stage of life is like a season. If you plant seeds in the wrong season, they will not grow.
For many of us, the start of the year is the start of a new cycle. I am noticing the rhythms of my own life here in Southwest Florida, where our seasons depend on tourism. Here the “low season” is the summer when it is too hot for most tourists. For me, that is my quiet time for introspection and preparing to plant “seeds” of new projects in the fall for the coming “high season” of tourism in the winter. Our “seasons” here are somewhat reversed. Taking the time to slow down and notice the natural rhythms of my life has helped me to rest when I need to, plant seeds at the right time, and predict the harvest.
Sacred Medicine Wheel – New Year’s Retreat of Release and Renewal
This January 9 – 13, 2019, I will be co-teaching with Suzanne Scurlock-Durana, the annual Release and Renewal New Year’s Retreat in the healing landscape of Sedona, Arizona. We use the Native American Teachings of the Sacred Medicine Wheel to honor the cycle and stages of life as we create and manifest powerful New Year’s Intentions. We will slow down and find our rhythms.
On the first day, we will learn the Core Embodiment Process to support our intentions and create a healing community. With storytelling, meditation, and sacred ceremony, we then explore the teachings of the Sacred Medicine Wheel to create and manifest full-bodied intentions. On the last day, we create a blessing affirmation to carry into the year, planting the seed for the change your soul is calling for in your life. If you are feeling stuck, start moving. This retreat might be for you. Everyone welcome.
