Finding Truth in the Present Moment

When I was 10 years old, I loved to watch Star Trek. I loved Spock. I loved logic and reason.

“The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.”
– Spock, Star Trek

It just made sense. What’s up with these silly things we call emotions? It’s just not rational. Knowledge is power. If I could understand it, then I had power over it. Or so I thought! I was living in my head. I was as far from living in the present moment as I could get. I was living in four year increments from high school, to college, to medical school, to the next future goal. After more than 20 years of education, getting out of my head was not easy.

When I ran out of school and “real life” started, I had to figure out how to live in the ever-present now. I had to figure out relationships and emotions, triggers and charges, inner child and wounding, trauma and fear, anxiety and depression, feelings and moods, joy and pain, love and inner peace. How do you live an authentic life? How do you live a happy life? How do you live?

Beginning with the study of Tai Chi more than 15 years ago, conscious movement and concepts of energy brought me into a new understanding and awareness of the body, mind, and spirit. Meditation helped to bring my mind to rest and helped to open my awareness. Devouring books, exploring workshops, and crawling through the web of the Internet brought me more esoteric knowledge. Alternative healing modalities taught me the power of intention. The school of life brought the other lessons that I would need.

Truth is an experience. Words can only describe the experience, and get you in the territory. What is an experience? It takes more than the mind to understand the possibilities, it requires the body to sense and act, emotions to feel and flow, and inspiration to guide. Everything has lead me to this place, and now I’d like to share the journey with an interactive online study group, along with this blog and my newsletter.

“When you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.”
– Spock, Star Trek

It will take more than logic and reason to find the answers. Let’s explore truth together in my online study group.
