“I didn’t learn stories, I just absorbed them.”
~Donald Davis
Florida Storytelling Festival
Come absorb stories in the Historic Mount Dora, the highest place in Florida. Don’t worry, it’s not that high, only 184 feet! The annual Florida Storytelling Festival celebrates the 35th year!
Thursday, January 24 – Sunday, January 27, 2019
Nestled up against Lake Dora, Lakeside Inn is Florida’s oldest continuously operating hotel, built in 1883. Lots of stories there. On the beautiful restored grounds, one large white concert tent appears on the lawn to seat 250 people as we come together for a weekend of storytelling performances. The hotel event rooms house our workshops and smaller events with plenty of chances to tell your own story. There’s even a Slam Storytelling Contest for 5 minute stories with cash prizes. This year’s theme is “Friends and Family.”
Join the storytelling friends and family. Connect with the community. Meet fun people. Listen and tell stories! Check out the schedule here and buy a ticket. A Listener’s Pass is only $50 for the whole weekend, but get a Full Weekend Pass and attend the workshops too. Become a member, get a discount, bring a friend, and join your local storytelling guild.
Hope to see you there,
Dr. Joel Ying, Board Member, Florida Storytelling Association
