“If my friends had not gone back, I’d still be there dancing.”
One of the most breathtaking places on the planet for me is Cathedral Rock in Sedona, Arizona. The spires of red rock formation reach up towards the sky. I return over and over with friends new and old. The hike takes us up the backside of the mountain, up through a crack in the mother earth where you crawl up with hands and feet. Then, through switchbacks, passing by juniper tree trucks that spiral in the vortex of energies, avoiding the spikes of cactus, building cairns along the way, we mount the plateau that looks over into the valley on the other side.
We wander along towards the granite core, up another crack in the earth mother where we wedge our feet and pull up with our hands. We are surrounded by the red rock of cathedral walls, more spires reach up, and we look down into the valleys at the wonder of this power place on planet earth.
On the way down the mountain, there is something new that I had not seen.
On a plateau of red rock near the bottom, free spirits dance as if in prayer to the beauty that surrounds us. At once playful and prayerful, we are entranced.
What else could we do? We must join them in the prayer dance.
Watch this amazing footage of hearts dancing in celebration.
May your journey take you to Cathedral Rock, Sedona, Arizona. May your heart dance and your spirit soar among the red rocks.
