ManKind Project – Redefining Modern Masculinity

“We believe that emotionally mature, powerful, compassionate, and purpose-driven men will help heal some of our society’s deepest wounds. We support the powerful brilliance of men and we are willing to look at, and take full responsibility for, the pain we are also capable of creating – and suffering. We care deeply about men, our families, communities, and the planet.”

What does it mean to be a modern man? The polarity of gender roles blurs with stay-at-home dads, career women, and every permutation in between. Each gender is struggling to meet somewhere in the middle. The Mankind Project provides a safe space for men to explore men’s issues in this changing world, to process through emotions without the judgment of weakness, and to connect to purpose and mission in their world.

New Warrior Training Adventure

At the end of this month, I’ll be volunteering in a weekend program that provides an “initiation” experience for men to step up with integrity, emotional awareness, and mission. The New Warrior Training Adventure (NWTA) is a weekend retreat, but not in the sense of rest and relax. Men come to the training to “work” their issues, face the resistance, and create change in their lives. In April 2011, I participated in a Florida training at the suggestion of a friend. Since then, I have been supportive of the mission of this organization.

The Mankind Project also offers Integration Groups or I-Groups, which are small groups of men that meet regularly to work through men’s issues in a safe space with emotional awareness and integrity. As a non-profit international organization, the Mankind Project supports groups, weekend retreats, and workshops in many different countries and communities.

Integrating the Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine

The rise of the Divine Feminine is not coming to conquer the world, but calling for the Divine Masculine to step up and meet it. As the feminine and the masculine aspects balance and intertwine within each of us, our emotional life (often considered feminine) and our physical work life (often considered masculine) will come together. As each of us become more integrated, we create a more conscious world, a safer society, and a more sacred community.

Organizations like the Mankind Project help men to redefine healthy modern masculinity, to heal from their emotional wounds, and to manifest their missions into the world. Learn more at MankindProject.org.
